Visiting the ASU Natural History Collections

The ASU Natural History Collections are open to visitors by appointment.

The collections are not a museum, per se, but an active research facility that support scientific research, education, and outreach. We frequently welcome K-12 groups, university classes, community organizations, and other biodiversity enthusiasts of all ages for guided tours and educational activities.

To schedule an individual or group visit, please contact in advance Elizabeth Makings, collections manager of vascular plants, who coordinates tour requests for the ASU Natural History Collections.

Our annual operating budget relies heavily on philanthropic support, with gifts made through the ASU Foundation. We encourage visitors to consider making a donation to the Natural History Collections commensurate with your activity and/or time frame. We are flexible with schools and other non-profits. Please contact our collections staff for guidance and details.

Since 2014, the collections have been housed in a 24,000 sq. ft. facility located about 1.5 miles southwest of Arizona State University’s Tempe Campus, at 734 West Alameda Drive.

Visitor parking is available on the east side of the Alameda Building near the front entrance. Parking fees may apply.
