Advanced Symbiota Checklists: Workshop at the GLAL XVI
As part of the XVI meeting of the Grupo Latinoamericano de Liquenólogos (GLAL XVI), we had a great in-person workshop in Mexico City.
The workshop focused on using Symbiota Tools in the Consortium of Lichen Herbaria to assemble Advanced Species Checklists.
In the workshop we used the Mexican and Ecuadorian Lichen Checklists as examples on how to manage records of fungal biodiversity in megadiverse countries. For more detail, we suggest reading our open access publication in The Lichenologist.
As part of the initiative to build a Consorcio de Herbarios de Líquenes en América Latina, the workshop was taught in Spanish (the official language of the conference). Detailed instructions on building Advanced Checklists are available both in Spanish and English through the Consortium Help & Resources site.
A special thanks to the Mexican Lichenologists, who helped organizing and teaching the workshop:

More News from the Help & Resources of the Lichen Consortium:
Thanks to María de los Ángeles Herrera Campos (México) and Alba Yánez-Ayabaca (Ecuador) we now share a Workflow for the Analysis of Lichen Secondary Metabolites, documenting in detail a protocol using thin-layer chromatography in combination with the program Mytabolites, developed at the ASU Lichen Herbarium.
Also, check out our new versions of the following programs now available for download:
LichenLabler (to print labels) and BCRWatcher (a program that automatically renames image files using its barcode, also including image metadata).
