ASU Biocollections Celebrates Earth Day at the Phoenix Zoo

The ASU Biocollections had a blast time participating in the Phoenix Zoo Earth Day event on April 25. The event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and highlight Arizona’s incredible biodiversity and share the importance of conservation.

Approximately 6,000 visitors stopped by to explore the incredible diversity of life found in Arizona’s deserts, from native insects, butterflies, and bees to small mammals. Through hands-on interactions with specimens and conversations with Biocollections staff and volunteers, visitors learned how each species plays an important role in maintaining healthy and resilient ecosystems.

Events like Earth Day help spark curiosity and foster a greater appreciation for the natural world among visitors of all ages. By connecting people with Arizona’s rich natural heritage, we hope to inspire future generations to support conservation efforts and continue the pursuit of scientific discovery.
